What this tool does
FFmpeg re-encodes the video stream and drops all audio streams. The video codec (H.264) and all visual settings are preserved. Because audio typically accounts for a small portion of a video file's size, the output will be slightly smaller than the original โ the exact reduction depends on how much of the original bitrate was used for audio.

FAQ
- Will removing audio affect the video quality?
- No. The video stream is re-encoded with the same settings. Only the audio tracks are dropped. There is no change to resolution, frame rate, or visual quality.
- Can I remove audio from a video that has multiple audio tracks?
- Yes. All audio streams are removed, regardless of how many the file contains.
- Why would I remove audio instead of just muting the video on the platform?
- Muting on a platform only silences playback โ the audio data is still in the file. Removing it means the file is smaller and avoids copyright detection systems that scan audio content, such as those used by YouTube and Instagram.
- Can I add different audio back after removing it?
- Not with this tool. It only removes audio. To replace audio you would need a video editor like DaVinci Resolve or CapCut.
- Does the output file still play in all video players?
- Yes. A video-only MP4 is a valid file and plays in any standard player. Some players may show a greyed-out audio track indicator, which is expected.
